Our Beautiful New Holiday Home in Historic Corbridge- Twenty Princes Street

Exciting times are ahead at Wooden Star HQ with the introduction of Twenty Princes Street, our latest beautiful holiday home in Historic Corbridge.

Twenty Princes Street

Set in central Corbridge, a ever popular Tyne Valley village, Twenty Princes Street ticks all the boxes. Newly renovated to a high standard with light, airy and generous rooms. It offers plenty of space for family and friend groups to catch up, relax and celebrate! With a sunny and private courtyard garden to enjoy a BBQ and alfresco dining around it’s large garden table. It’s a short stroll into central Corbridge to explore the many independent shops, cafes and resturants.

Accommodation

Entering this Northumbrian Stone house you are immediately drawn to the spacious living room where the large inglenook fireplace and wood burning stove are it’s most striking feature. Here you will find plenty of comfortable seating, a cosy window seat to watch the world go by and of course the mod cons of Smart Flatscreen TV and Wireless Hub.

The living rooms leads through to the large modern kitchen equipped with everything you need in a home from home. A large kitchen table to accommodate everyone, plenty of fridge, freezer and cupboard space and of course the vital wine and champagne glasses!

From the kitchen french doors open to a very pretty sunny courtyard garden for BBQ’s and outdoor dining. The flagstones are surrounded by mature plants and the sound of the water feature with something chilled in your glass makes for some very relaxing moments.

A fabulous family suite with separate access via a stairway from the kitchen leads to a large king size room with private ensuite. Then a further set of stairs lead to a cosy and private bunk room hideaway perfect for young ones!

Accessing the first floor from the entrance hall stairs you will find a large king bedroom with plenty of storage and a sunny window seat. A further twin bedroom with two comfy single beds and a family bathroom with roll top bath walk in shower.

Location

Corbridge Village is a very popular spot set in the Tyne Valley built above a stunning section of the River Tyne. It’s easily accessed from Newcastle by road and train with the airport just 20 minutes away. Rarely do you find such a beautiful spot with so much choice for shopping and dining…

There are plentiful art, gift and home shops that you can mooch around for hours. Local artists have made Corbridge their home Alex Clarke being one of it’s most famous. Her shop in the Market Place is treasure trove of her work and pieces from many other local artists.

For the Love of the North can be found on the opposite side of the Market Place in a beautiful shop full of Northumberland art and crafts and the hugely successful RE for the Home “An eclectic mix of the raRE, REmarkable, REcycled, REscued and REstored – furniture and objects for the home”, are nestled down a side street surrounded by antique shops.

You’ll find beautiful gifts and jewellery in Acanthus and think of any object for the household and find it in The Corbridge Cookshop a true “Arkwrights” of our time! There’s so much more from independent jewellers, Artisan bakeries to clothing and footwear shops, there’s definitely retail therapy to be had for all!

Eating and Drinking in Corbridge

Again the choice is plenty! We have cosy cafes such as Spokes who specialise is feeding hungry cyclists but are happy feeding us all too. They always have yummy daily specials, amazing homemade cakes and a hearty breakfast on offer. The Angel is a bar, restaurant and small hotel. They serve great food and a lovely range of wines and local beers and offer a private dining area for small parties. They also have the The Angelfish on site too, a fantastic take away fish and chip shop. The Corbridge Larder is always worth a visit, with it’s upstairs cafe selling fantastic lunches and sharing boards and a downstairs deli and shop selling local and artisan produce to the villagers.

More information on Corbridge can be found at here and you can check out Twenty Princess Street and see photographs and floorpans here.

Hope you can visit soon!

Spring Breaks in Northumberland – Late Availability Offers!

We are really enjoying the mild, sunny weather here in Hexham. The birds are in full song, the crocuses and daffs are in full bloom. Walking through the Hexham parks and woods we see clumps of dwarf daffodils and snowdrops through the dappled spring sunshine and we take a deep breath and hope the worst of Winter is over with!

The Perfect Time for Spring Breaks in Northumberland!

Spring is our favourite season in Northumberland, we suffer the long dark winter, perfect for star gazing but not so good for the school run! Once the milder weather arrives and the bulbs start to bloom we are filled a renewed purpose and the hope of a Summer like last year! The Sele Park in Hexham is a great place to spot all the colours of Spring with the stunning backdrop of the majestic Hexham Abbey. Strolling through the park past the Victorian bandstand to Seal Cottage today, its hard not to smile at the bright blooms and children rolling down the vast Sele Field. Only a few weeks ago they were sledging down! The dogs are chasing each other and catching balls with energy and zest for life that we could all do with a bit of and their owners are passing the time of day and chatting in a way that Hexham folk do!

Seal Cottage – Hexham – Perfect Spot!

It’s a joy to be at the Cottage preparing for guest arrivals today, opening the windows and letting in the mild air. We can finally buy Spring flowers in the Market Square and and their colours dress the cottage kitchen table perfectly. Vicky and I busy ourselves with bed changing, chatting on about our respective lives, our parenting and relationship challenges and comment on how good our hospital corners are becoming! Guests are arriving from France this week and it looks like the lovely weather will hold for them. We have had lots of European guest bookings this year coming to walk Hadrian’s Wall and visit the many Roman sites a stones throw away from Hexham. Other guests travel to meet Scottish friends at a central location with lots to offer. Some visit to see friends and family or attend weddings at local venues. Others just simply want to explore Hexham Abbey and further Northumberland. We love to hear about what our guests adventures entail!

Great time to book a Spring Break in Hexham!

With a few remaining weekends left in March, we are offering new and previous guests 15% off all March stays at Seal Cottage so they can share the Northumberland Spring sunshine with us!
