1. That view! It’s just breath taking, looking out over the rugged fields dotted with grazing sheep, this summer especially provides a constant blue sky as a stunning back drop, you have to see it to really appreciate it!

  1. The location! The weekly journey we take to Shellbraes to get it ready for its next guests never fails to impress, the undulating road opens up into vast views of the best Northumberland countryside, yet we have travelled just 10 minutes from Corbridge and Hexham. Even on the rainiest days there is something to take from this immense scenery.

  1. The dark skies! With the nearby Northumberland National Park as a designated dark sky area, when you lose that view to the dark cast your eyes upwards and see more stars than in any other English county. From the cosy living room, you can use the telescope to get a more detailed view of what’s above us.

  1. Such a great place for kids! An enclosed garden with a beautiful stone wall they can peep over and spot the sheep and lambs in Spring. Further walks on the moor behind Shellbraes provide natures best playground plus huge collection of toys in the playroom, the teenagers might prefer the games console though! We have everything you need for baby too!

  1. The veg patch! A dedicated raised bed full of fresh seasonal vegetables for you to share and prepare in the farmhouse kitchen, perfect for a fresh salad with your evening barbeque! The air is scented with plentiful and colourful sweet peas while you relax and enjoy this truly remarkable setting.
